Imphal, 13 July (HS): Security forces arrested four militants belonging to different insurgent outfits in separate operations across Manipur over the last 24 hours, recovering an SLR rifle, ammunition and a vehicle from one of the accused.

On July 12, security forces arrested Chagisongtanbou Nkhamnamai (46) of Makui Naga Village from Yairipok Pechi Road near Angom Football Turf under Yairipok Police Station in Thoubal district. A search led to the seizure of one SLR rifle with magazine, 10 live rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition and one Bolero vehicle.

In separate operations, security forces arrested an alleged extortionist and active cadre of KCP (Nongdrenkhomba), Md. Motim alias Lanthoiba alias Nanao (31), from Khurai Nandeibam Leikai under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district.

Another active KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) cadre, Thongam Preethyngamba Meitei (26), was apprehended from Wangkhei Ayangpalli Road under Porompat Police Station.

Security forces also arrested an active cadre of UPPK, Salam Bijanda Singh alias Deepak alias Major (37), from near Karkinos Hospital on Porompat Ayangpalli Road under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district.

Meanwhile, Manipur Police intensified enforcement against traffic violations. Between July 6 and 12, police issued 257 challans to motor vehicle offenders, collecting fines amounting to ₹2.76 lakh. During the same period, tinted films were removed from 90 vehicles, while one vehicle was seized as part of the enforcement drive.-----------
