Bhubaneswar, 13 July (H.S.): The 7th Graduation Ceremony of the World Skill Center (WSC), Bhubaneswar, was held today with Minister of Skill Development & Technical Education and Industries, Odisha, Sampad Chandra Swain, as the Chief Guest. A total of 506 students graduated after successfully completing advanced, industry-oriented skill training programmes, marking another significant milestone in Odisha’s efforts to establish itself as a hub for world-class skill development.

Addressing the graduating students, Swain congratulated them and described the occasion as a celebration of their aspirations, dedication, and potential. He said that the ceremony was not only about receiving certificates but also about building a future-ready workforce capable of contributing to Odisha, India, and the global economy.

The Minister highlighted that skill development is a key component in achieving the vision of “Samruddha Odisha by 2036” and supporting the national objective of “Viksit Bharat by 2047.” He added that the State Government is focusing on next-generation skills to prepare young people for emerging technologies and future industries.

Among the 506 graduates, 261 are women, accounting for over 51 per cent of the graduating batch. This reflects the increasing participation and confidence of women in advanced, industry-linked skill education. More than 93 per cent of the graduates have already secured placements with reputed national and international companies. Eight graduates have also received placement opportunities with Dubai-based Al Ghurair, further enhancing the global recognition of the “Skilled-in-Odisha” brand.

During the ceremony, the Minister inaugurated the Spatial AI Lab at the World Skill Center, established in collaboration with EON Reality, USA, and ITEES, Singapore. The facility is expected to provide students with advanced learning opportunities in Spatial AI and Geospatial Technologies, strengthening their capabilities in emerging technology domains.

The event was attended by Bhupendra Singh Poonia, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Skill Development & Technical Education Department; Shri Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra, Chief Executive Officer, World Skill Center; senior officials of the Department, industry partners, faculty members, and other distinguished guests.

The graduation ceremony reaffirmed Odisha’s commitment to empowering youth through globally relevant skills and creating opportunities for them to succeed in a rapidly evolving employment landscape.
