
Bhubaneswar, 13 July (H.S.): As part of the state-wide ‘Weight Utsav 2026-27’ under the Poshan Abhiyan, Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling visited an Anganwadi Centre in Balangir district to review the nutritional status and health indicators of children.
The ‘Weight Utsav’, aimed at ensuring better health, nutrition and overall development of children, is being observed across Odisha from July 1 to July 25. The campaign focuses on assessing children’s weight, height and nutritional condition through regular monitoring and evaluation.
During his visit to Hirapur Anganwadi Centre-1 under Loisingha block of Balangir district, Minister Mahaling reviewed the process of measuring children’s weight and height and took stock of the nutrition-related activities being carried out at the centre.
The Minister emphasised the importance of proper childcare, regular health check-ups and ensuring the quality of nutritional food provided to children. He advised Anganwadi workers and concerned officials to remain more attentive towards improving child health and nutrition outcomes.
In a social media post, Mahaling said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the Poshan Abhiyan is being further strengthened to ensure that every child in Odisha grows up healthy and well-nourished.
Through the ‘Weight Utsav’ initiative, children’s weight, height and nutritional status are being regularly assessed, enabling timely interventions and measures for improving their overall health and development.
