New Delhi, 11 July (H.S.): The nation on Saturday paid heartfelt tribute to Param Vir Chakra awardee Second Lieutenant Rama Raghoba Rane on his death anniversary. Several leaders, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, and Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, honoured his extraordinary courage, gallantry, and unwavering dedication to the nation.

In a message posted on social media platform X, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that Param Vir Chakra awardee Second Lieutenant Rama Raghoba Rane displayed indomitable courage and exceptional leadership during the 1947–48 Indo-Pakistan War. Despite intense enemy fire and numerous obstacles, he continuously cleared the route for his fellow soldiers, enabling the Indian Army to advance. Birla said Rane's unwavering commitment to duty and bravery, even under the most challenging circumstances, formed the foundation of the mission's success. He described Rane's valour as a golden and inspiring chapter in the history of the Indian Armed Forces.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also paid tribute to Second Lieutenant Rama Raghoba Rane, saying that the nation would forever remain indebted to him for his supreme sacrifice, indomitable courage, and unparalleled patriotism. He said Rane's life continues to serve as a source of inspiration for every Indian.

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the glorious saga of Param Vir Chakra awardee Second Lieutenant Rama Raghoba Rane, who defeated enemy forces through his unmatched bravery and heroism during the 1947–48 Indo-Pakistan War, would continue to inspire future generations to dedicate themselves to national service, courage, and duty. He added that it is because of the sacrifice and valour of such brave sons of the nation that India remains secure and proud.

Notably, Second Lieutenant Rama Raghoba Rane was an officer in the Indian Army's Corps of Engineers. During the 1947–48 Indo-Pakistan War, he cleared landmines and roadblocks under heavy enemy fire, enabling Indian tanks and troops to advance. In recognition of his exceptional courage, gallantry, and devotion to duty, he was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration for valour. His life and heroism continue to be an enduring source of inspiration for the Indian Army and the people of India.
