New Delhi, 10 July (H.S.): The domestic equity market witnessed strong momentum during early trading on Friday, with benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty trading firmly in positive territory. The market opened on a strong note and briefly experienced mild selling pressure after the opening bell. However, buyers quickly regained control, leading to a sharp rally in both benchmark indices. By 10 a.m., the Sensex was trading 1.09 percent higher, while the Nifty had gained 1.08 percent.

Among the frontline stocks, Jio Financial, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Wipro and JSW Steel emerged as the top gainers by 10 a.m., advancing between 3.59 percent and 1.88 percent. On the other hand, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Bharti Airtel, Eternal, Max Healthcare and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries were trading lower, registering losses ranging from 2.42 percent to 0.18 percent.

A total of 2,699 stocks were actively traded in the market during the morning session. Of these, 2,237 stocks were trading in the green with gains, while 462 stocks were in the red. Among the 30 Sensex constituents, 27 stocks were trading higher on sustained buying support, while only three stocks remained under selling pressure. Similarly, out of the 50 Nifty constituents, 44 stocks were trading in positive territory, while six stocks were trading with losses.

The BSE Sensex opened 653.81 points higher at 77,395.63. Soon after the opening, selling pressure dragged the index down to an intraday low of 77,320.56. However, buyers immediately stepped in, triggering a sharp recovery. Amid continued buying and selling activity, the Sensex was trading at 77,581.81 by 10 a.m., up 839.99 points from the previous close.

Likewise, the NSE Nifty opened 161.90 points higher at 24,124.70. Shortly after trading commenced, buying momentum strengthened further, pushing the benchmark index significantly higher. Although intermittent profit-booking led to minor bouts of selling, the strong buying interest outweighed the pressure, keeping the index firmly in positive territory. By 10 a.m., the Nifty was trading at 24,221.05, up 258.25 points.

In the previous trading session on Thursday, the BSE Sensex had closed 238.22 points, or 0.31 percent, higher at 76,741.82. The NSE Nifty had also ended the session with gains of 80.75 points, or 0.34 percent, to settle at 23,962.80.
