Imphal, 10 July (HS): Security forces have arrested a suspected drug smuggler and two active militant cadres in separate operations carried out in Manipur over the last 24 hours, recovering around 3.2 kg of suspected ganja and seizing a vehicle linked to criminal activities.
In the latest operation on July 9, security personnel apprehended Albert Kumam (28), a resident of Moirang Kumam Leikai in Bishnupur district, at Imphal Airport after approximately 3.2 kg of suspected ganja was recovered from his baggage.
Earlier, security forces arrested two active insurgent cadres from Chingamakha Oinam Leirak under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district. The arrested individuals were identified as Bela Oinam (25), an active cadre of KCP (Nongdrenkhomba), and Nawaz Khan (32), an active cadre of UNLF (P).
A Maruti Suzuki Baleno car was seized from the duo, who are allegedly involved in previous kidnapping and abduction-for-ransom cases. Further investigation is underway.------------
