Silchar, 10 July (HS): Cachar Police seized 112 pieces of suspected fake gold weighing 7 kg and 23 grams during a special operation carried out in the Srikona area of Silchar, official sources informed on Friday.

The operation, launched, led to the apprehension of Ashish Kumar Roy (50), a resident of Chibitiyabichiya Part-5 under Srikona. The suspected fake gold was recovered from his possession and seized in the presence of independent witnesses.

Police said necessary legal proceedings have been initiated and further investigation is underway.-----------
