New Delhi, 01 July (H.S.): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday strongly criticised Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his remarks about BJP national president Nitin Nabin, describing them as an example of political arrogance.

Reacting to the statement, BJP national spokesperson Prem Shukla said Revanth Reddy had made an extremely objectionable and condemnable remark by questioning the identity of Nitin Nabin.

He asked, 'Who is Nitin Nabin?' This is highly unfortunate and condemnable. Revanth Reddy should know that Nitin Nabin is the national president of the BJP, the world's largest democratic political party, which is in power in 22 Indian states, Shukla said.

He further alleged that the Congress party's repeated defeats in the last three Lok Sabha elections were the result of its arrogance. Shukla claimed that under the leadership of Nitin Nabin, the BJP had emerged as the principal force challenging the Congress.

Referring to Telangana, he said the BJP had won eight of the state's 17 Lok Sabha seats, matching the Congress tally, yet the Chief Minister continued to display what he described as the height of arrogance.

Shukla asserted that such political arrogance would not last long and expressed confidence that the BJP would come to power in Telangana under the leadership of Nitin Nabin. He said the party's lotus symbol would soon bloom in the state and that what he called courtier politics and arrogant politics would come to an end.

The exchange comes after Nitin Nabin, during his three-day visit to Telangana, announced that the BJP would launch a statewide agitation against the Congress government. Addressing the Telangana BJP executive committee meeting, he urged party leaders and workers to intensify their campaign against the state government and take public issues to every village and town across Telangana.

Responding to Nitin Nabin's announcement, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had remarked, Recently, a person came here—Nabin or whatever his name is. I don't even know his name properly. He came here claiming that the next government would be theirs. It may have taken them 15 years in West Bengal, where Mamata Banerjee perhaps allowed their tactics to succeed, but here our people are fully prepared, and they will crush you.
