Wellington, 01 July (H.S.): New Zealand Cricket on Wednesday announced a 16-member squad for the five-match One-Day International (ODI) series against the West Indies. Fast bowler Matt Fisher has received his maiden ODI call-up, while Jacob Duffy returns to the national squad after missing the recent Test tour of England.
The ODI series between the West Indies and New Zealand will begin on July 11 in Guyana. The opening three matches will be played on July 11, 13 and 16, while the final two fixtures are scheduled for July 19 and 21 in Barbados.
The 26-year-old Fisher made his Test debut against Zimbabwe in August 2025 and his T20 International debut against Bangladesh earlier this year. He has claimed 43 wickets in 25 List A matches at an average of 26.
Jacob Duffy, meanwhile, returns to the New Zealand squad for the first time since the ICC Men's T20 World Cup final in March. Following the tournament, he represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League but missed the England Test series due to the birth of his first child.
Head coach Rob Walter welcomed the inclusion of both pacers, saying they add valuable depth to the bowling attack.
Having both Matt and Jacob in the squad strengthens our bowling unit. Matt's first ODI call-up is a significant milestone in his career. He bowls with genuine pace and has worked hard on developing variations that allow him to be effective in different phases of the game, Walter said.
Praising Duffy, Walter added that the fast bowler has delivered consistently across all formats over the past two years and that his experience will be an important asset for the team.
Mitchell Santner will captain the side. Along with Santner, the spin department includes Michael Bracewell, Adithya Ashok? Wait not; actually Jaden Lennox and Dean Foxcroft. Jaden Lennox, who made his international debut against India in January this year, will embark on his third overseas limited-overs tour.
Michael Bracewell and Mark Chapman also return to the squad after missing New Zealand's previous international assignment.
The selectors have rested pace trio Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry and Will O'Rourke due to a demanding international schedule. Blair Tickner is unavailable after undergoing ankle surgery.
Devon Conway will miss the tour following the birth of his second child, while Rachin Ravindra is unavailable due to his prior commitment to Major League Cricket (MLC).
New Zealand ODI squad: Mitchell Santner (captain), Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Kristian Clarke, Jacob Duffy, Matt Fisher, Dean Foxcroft, Mitch Hay, Nick Kelly, Tom Latham (wicketkeeper), Jaden Lennox, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Ben Sears, Nathan Smith and Will Young.
