Jorhat (Assam), 01 July (HS): A man was arrested with an illegal pistol and live ammunition during a police operation in the Nagabat area under Barhola in Assam's Jorhat district, police said on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, police launched a search operation in the area and apprehended the accused, identified as Vijay Krishna Bora. During the operation, police recovered a .22 mm pistol and 23 rounds of live ammunition from his possession.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident and Jorhat Police have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the source of the firearm and the motive behind its possession.---------
