New Delhi, 01 July (H.S.): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Deepak Gehlawat in connection with a bribery case. Gehlawat, a 2012-batch Haryana cadre officer, is currently serving on central deputation with the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) in New Delhi.
The CBI said the case was originally registered on June 8 against a Delhi Police inspector and two private individuals. According to the CBI, searches were conducted at multiple premises linked to Gehlawat. During the raids, investigators recovered several digital devices, hard disks, documents and other material considered relevant to the investigation.
The agency said the investigation is ongoing and that it is also examining other aspects of the alleged bribery and misuse of influence.
