Chandigarh, 01 July (H.S.): Panic gripped security agencies on Wednesday after anonymous emails threatened to bomb the Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's Office and several educational institutions, including the Air Force School in Chandigarh. The threats came on the first day schools reopened after the summer vacation, prompting an immediate security response.

According to officials, threatening emails were received by Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37-B, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector 47, and the Air Force School, Sector 31. The email claimed that explosions would take place in schools across Chandigarh at 1:11 p.m., while the Haryana Chief Minister's Office would allegedly be targeted at 3:11 p.m. The message also mentioned the use of bombs, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and drones.

Following the threat, Chandigarh Police, the Bomb Disposal Squad, the Dog Squad, and other security agencies rushed to the affected institutions and launched extensive search operations. Security was tightened around the school campuses and surrounding areas, while students' safety remained the top priority.

Preliminary information indicates that the school authorities received emails claiming that explosive devices had been planted on the premises. Cyber teams have begun tracing the origin of the emails and identifying the IP addresses used to send them.

As a precautionary measure, the affected campuses were thoroughly searched. However, officials have so far not confirmed the recovery of any suspicious object or explosive material.

Chandigarh Police has registered a case and initiated an investigation with the assistance of cyber experts. A police spokesperson said search operations were being carried out at all schools and institutions that received the threat emails, and security teams remained deployed at the locations while all aspects of the case were being thoroughly investigated.
