
New Delhi/Hyderabad, June 8 (HS): BJP National Co-Incharge for Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and former MLC Dr. Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's governance model has successfully integrated development with Tamil cultural pride, resulting in significant infrastructure growth, welfare expansion and greater recognition of Tamil heritage during the past twelve years.
Speaking exclusively to Hindusthan Samachar, Dr. Reddy said the NDA government's initiatives have strengthened both Tamil Nadu's development trajectory and its cultural identity.
Dr. Reddy said the past twelve years of the Modi government's tenure have witnessed unprecedented investments in infrastructure, connectivity, social welfare, industrial development and cultural preservation, benefiting millions of people across Tamil Nadu.
Highlighting key achievements, he said Tamil Nadu has gained from major investments in highways, railways, airports, ports, digital infrastructure and public welfare programmes. Flagship initiatives such as Vande Bharat trains, Bharatmala road projects, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat and PM-Kisan have contributed significantly to improving connectivity, living standards and economic opportunities in the state.
Dr. Reddy said Tamil Nadu has benefited from major investments in highways, railways, airports, ports, digital infrastructure and public welfare programmes. He pointed to the Chennai Metro expansion, modernization of railway stations under the Amrit Bharat initiative, introduction of Vande Bharat services and improvements in road and logistics connectivity as examples of the Centre's commitment to strengthening the state's infrastructure ecosystem.
He further highlighted the Defence Industrial Corridor in Tamil Nadu, growing investments in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, support for fishermen welfare, women's empowerment initiatives and skill-development programmes aimed at creating employment opportunities for youth. According to Dr. Reddy, these initiatives have contributed to economic growth while positioning Tamil Nadu as a key driver of India's industrial and technological advancement.
The BJP leader said the Centre's emphasis on industrial growth, manufacturing, skill development, entrepreneurship and digital transformation has opened new avenues of employment and economic advancement for the youth of Tamil Nadu.
Referring to cultural initiatives, Dr. Reddy said Prime Minister Modi has consistently demonstrated respect for Tamil language, literature and civilisation. He cited programmes such as Kashi Tamil Sangamam and Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam, the installation of the historic Sengol in the new Parliament building and various initiatives aimed at showcasing Tamil culture and heritage on national and international platforms.
The BJP leader also noted that the Prime Minister has consistently promoted Tamil language and culture on national and international platforms. He said initiatives such as Kashi Tamil Sangamam, Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam and the installation of the historic Sengol in the new Parliament building reflect the government's efforts to celebrate Tamil civilisation and strengthen its connection with the broader Indian cultural heritage.
According to him, the Modi government's vision of Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi has ensured that economic development and cultural preservation move forward together, strengthening both the state's prosperity and its civilisational identity.Dr. Reddy said the BJP's vision seeks to combine development with respect for Tamil identity, language and cultural heritage, while challenging what he termed the misconception that nationalism and Tamil pride are mutually exclusive.
There is a deliberate attempt by some political forces to portray nationalism and Tamil identity as opposing ideas. The BJP firmly believes that one can take pride in being Tamil while contributing to a stronger India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives have consistently reflected this vision, he said.
The former MLC expressed confidence that the people of Tamil Nadu are increasingly recognising the benefits of development-oriented governance and the Centre's commitment to inclusive growth, cultural preservation and national progress.
Dr. Reddy said the NDA government remains committed to empowering every section of society while ensuring that Tamil Nadu continues to play a leading role in India's journey towards becoming a developed nation.
