Kolkata, 08 June (H.S.) :

A group of Trinamool Congress (TMC) Lok Sabha MPs reportedly met at the residence of Union Minister and BJP leader Bhupendra Yadav in Delhi on Monday, triggering intense political speculation over a potential split within the party’s parliamentary wing.

According to multiple claims circulating in political circles, senior TMC leaders who are described as “rebel” MPs attended the meeting. The gathering has also drawn attention as West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari was reportedly present at the venue. However, none of the participants have issued any official confirmation regarding the nature or agenda of the discussions.

Preliminary reports suggest that as many as 11 TMC MPs from the Lok Sabha may have been part of the meeting. Those named in these reports include Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar (Barasat), Prasun Banerjee (Howrah), Satabdi Roy (Birbhum), Asit Mal (Bolpur), Bapi Haldar (Mathurapur), June Maliah (Medinipur), Jagadish Chandra Basunia (Cooch Behar), Kalipada Soren (Jhargram), Arup Chakraborty (Bankura), Partha Bhowmick (Barrackpore), and Sharmila Sarkar (Bardhaman East). Former TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy, who recently resigned from the party and the Upper House, is also reported to have been present.

Bhupendra Yadav, who serves as the Union Environment Minister and is also seen as a key BJP strategist in West Bengal, is believed to have hosted the meeting. His role in the BJP’s organisational efforts in the state has been widely discussed within political circles.

The development coincides with a high-profile meeting of the INDIA bloc in Delhi, where leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mamata Banerjee are present. The parallel gathering at Bhupendra Yadav’s residence has further fuelled speculation about internal churn within the TMC and possible realignments ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.

While speculation of a formal split in the TMC parliamentary party is gaining traction in political discourse, there has been no official statement from the party confirming any division or disciplinary action. The actual strength and intent of the MPs involved remain unclear, and the situation is still evolving.
