New Delhi, 08 June (H.S.):

Australia have suffered a major setback ahead of their three-match One-Day International series against Bangladesh, with captain Mitchell Marsh and star batter Travis Head ruled out of the tour. In their absence, Josh Inglis will lead the side. Cricket Australia confirmed the development on Monday.

Marsh and Head had also missed Australia's recently concluded ODI series against Pakistan, which the visitors lost 2-1. Marsh is still recovering from an ankle injury, while Head has been granted leave for personal reasons.

Australia have been dealt another blow with leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha being ruled out of the Bangladesh tour. Sangha sustained a hamstring injury during the second ODI against Pakistan and will not be available for the upcoming series.

However, Mitchell Marsh will travel to Bangladesh with the squad and continue his rehabilitation programme there. Team management remains hopeful that he will regain fitness in time for the subsequent Twenty20 International series.

Young batter Ollie Peake and all-rounder Matt Short, who had returned home following the Pakistan tour, will now remain with the squad. Off-spinner Todd Murphy has been named as Sangha's replacement.

National selector Tony Dodemaide said Sangha's injury would prevent him from taking any further part in the tour. He added that the selectors had hoped Marsh would recover in time for the ODI series, but the captain requires additional time before returning to competitive action.
