New Delhi, 08 June (H.S.): India on Monday urged all parties involved in the escalating military confrontation in West Asia to exercise restraint, reduce tensions and ensure the safety of civilians.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs called on all sides to pursue dialogue and diplomatic engagement in order to de-escalate the situation and find a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The ministry emphasized that the early restoration of peace and stability in the region is of paramount importance.

India noted that the latest developments in West Asia have emerged as a matter of serious concern for the international community. It added that the ongoing conflict has had significant implications for the global economy and energy supply chains.

The appeal came against the backdrop of a sharp escalation in hostilities between Israel and Iran over the past 24 hours. Iran reportedly targeted several key Israeli cities, while Israel launched strikes on military installations in western and central Iran.

Meanwhile, the Indian embassies in both Iran and Israel have issued advisories for Indian nationals. Citizens have been advised against travelling to Iran and to avoid all non-essential travel to Israel.

The advisory for Indians currently residing in Iran urges them to leave the country at the earliest opportunity through any available means. Indians living in Israel have been advised to remain vigilant, exercise caution and strictly follow instructions issued by local authorities.

India reiterated its support for diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and restoring stability in a region that remains critical to global security, trade and energy markets.
