New Delhi, June 5 (HS): Following the successful completion of its first phase of trials, the Delhi Pro Volleyball League (DPVL) on Friday announced the second phase of its player selection process. The Phase 2 trials will be held on June 7 (Sunday) from 8:00 a.m. onwards at Laxmi Public School, Karkardooma, Delhi.
The league's inaugural round of trials received an overwhelming response from players. According to the organisers, 100 per cent attendance was recorded among the athletes who had received confirmation calls, reflecting the growing enthusiasm surrounding the league’s debut season.
Building on this momentum, DPVL has expanded its talent identification programme beyond Delhi to include several North Indian states. Players from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Jammu & Kashmir have been invited to participate in the Phase 2 trials.
The organisers expect the upcoming round to provide a platform for several emerging volleyball talents from across North India to showcase their abilities and compete for a place in the league.
Upon the completion of all trial phases, the shortlisted players will earn the opportunity to enter the official player auction, where the league’s six franchise teams will select their respective squads.
The Delhi Pro Volleyball League is positioning itself as India’s first women-led professional volleyball league. The initiative aims to create a structured competitive platform for athletes, promote talent development, and elevate the professional stature of volleyball in the country.
Launched earlier this year in collaboration with the Delhi Volleyball Association and the Delhi Olympic Association, the league seeks to take Indian volleyball to new heights while creating stronger pathways and opportunities for the next generation of players.
