Muzaffarabad, Pakistan, June 5 (HS): The federal government has decided to deploy additional civil armed forces and police personnel in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) in view of the strike and protest call issued by the Joint Awami Action Committee for June 9. The local administration has also issued a travel advisory for tourists.
According to a report by World News, citing official sources, around 1,000 personnel from the Punjab Rangers and 2,000 personnel from the Frontier Constabulary will be deployed across PoJK. In addition, 2,000 officers from the Islamabad Police and 1,000 officers from the Sindh Police will also be stationed in the region to maintain law and order.
The PoJK government has urged people to avoid entering the region and refrain from undertaking non-essential travel between June 5 and June 20. Individuals planning to visit the area for tourism, pilgrimage, or any other purpose have been advised to postpone their trips.
In its advisory, the government stated that travel should be avoided due to the possibility of large-scale demonstrations and disruptions associated with the planned strike. Tourists and pilgrims currently present in the region have been instructed to leave by the evening of June 5.
The administration further warned that the protest call could significantly affect tourism-related activities across PoJK. Officials emphasized that ensuring the safety and security of tourists and travelers remains the government's highest priority.
As a precautionary measure, authorities have issued a special advisory in anticipation of possible protests and disruptions to public movement. The government said the deployment of additional security personnel is aimed at maintaining public order and minimizing the impact of any unrest during the protest period.
