Harare, 30 June (H.S.): Zimbabwe created history by defeating Bangladesh by an innings and 85 runs in the one-off Test at Harare on Monday, registering the largest victory by margin in the country's Test cricket history. The hosts wrapped up the match in the second session on the third day.

Zimbabwe's pace attack, led by Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, and Newman Nyamhuri, starred in the historic triumph. The three fast bowlers shared 17 wickets between them, dismantling Bangladesh's batting line-up across both innings.

Bangladesh Bowled Out for 140 in First Innings

Zimbabwe's bowlers dominated from the opening day, dismissing Bangladesh for just 140 in their first innings. Newman Nyamhuri produced the best figures of his career with 4 for 61, while Blessing Muzarabani and Brad Evans claimed two wickets each.

Kaia's Maiden Century Powers Zimbabwe to 410

In reply, Zimbabwe produced an impressive batting display to post 410 and take a commanding first-innings lead of 270 runs. Innocent Kaia scored his maiden Test century, making 140, while Craig Ervine contributed 60. Wesley Madhevere also made a valuable contribution to the innings.

Despite Zimbabwe's dominance, Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam delivered an outstanding performance with figures of 7 for 138. With the haul, he equalled Shakib Al Hasan's Bangladesh record of 19 five-wicket hauls in Test cricket.

Bangladesh Collapse Again in Second Innings

Resuming the third day still trailing by 230 runs, Bangladesh came under pressure immediately. Blessing Muzarabani exploited the extra bounce to dismiss Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Mominul Haque early.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim attempted to steady the innings but failed to convert their starts into substantial scores. Mushfiqur top-scored with 34.

The middle order also struggled against Zimbabwe's disciplined pace attack. Debutant Amit Hasan and Taijul Islam offered brief resistance, but once their partnership was broken, Bangladesh's innings quickly unravelled. The visitors were eventually bowled out for 185, handing Zimbabwe a historic innings-and-85-run victory.

Muzarabani claimed four wickets in the second innings, while Richard Ngarava picked up three.

Brief Scores:

Bangladesh: 140 and 185 (Mushfiqur Rahim 34; Blessing Muzarabani 4/65, Richard Ngarava 3/32)

Zimbabwe: 410 (Innocent Kaia 140, Craig Ervine 60, Wesley Madhevere; Taijul Islam 7/138)

Result: Zimbabwe won by an innings and 85 runs.
