
New Delhi, 30 June (H.S.): The Women's Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the Indian women's cricket squad for the 2026 Asian Games, scheduled to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, in September. Harmanpreet Kaur has once again been named captain, while Smriti Mandhana will serve as vice-captain.
India will enter the tournament as the defending champions, having won the historic gold medal in women's cricket at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. The team will travel to Japan aiming to successfully defend its title.
The squad features a blend of experienced campaigners and promising young talent. Opening batter Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, wicketkeeper-batters Richa Ghosh and G. Kamalini have all been included in the squad.
The bowling unit comprises Renuka Thakur, Arundhati Reddy, Radha Yadav, Shree Charani, Kranti Goud and Nandini Sharma.
All-rounder Shreyanka Patil has also been named in the squad, subject to receiving fitness clearance.
