
New Delhi, 30 June (H.S.): Global markets offered mixed cues on Tuesday. U.S. markets ended the previous session on a strong note, although Dow Jones Futures were trading marginally lower in early trade. European markets closed in negative territory, while Asian markets witnessed mixed trading.
U.S. equity markets ended the previous session with solid gains, led by a strong rally in technology stocks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 306.63 points, or 0.59 percent, to close at 52,182.74. The S&P 500 advanced 86.41 points, or 1.18 percent, to finish at 7,440.43. The Nasdaq Composite surged 522.53 points, or 2.07 percent, to settle at 25,820.14. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Futures were trading marginally lower by 0.04 percent at 52,161.65 during early trading on Tuesday.
European markets ended the previous session in the red amid continued selling pressure. The FTSE index declined 0.23 percent to close at 10,484.22. France's CAC 40 fell 0.21 percent to 8,367.33, while Germany's DAX slipped 0.18 percent to end the session at 24,626.89.
Asian markets presented a mixed picture on Tuesday. Of the nine major regional indices being tracked, six were trading higher while three remained in negative territory. Singapore's Straits Times Index declined 0.53 percent to 5,181.29. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index dropped 285.68 points, or 1.24 percent, to 22,741. Indonesia's Jakarta Composite Index witnessed the sharpest decline in the region, falling 143.83 points, or 2.47 percent, to 5,676.96.
On the positive side, Gift Nifty gained 0.21 percent to trade at 24,004. Thailand's SET Composite Index rose 0.35 percent to 1,583.30. Taiwan's Weighted Index posted a strong rally, jumping 1,389.26 points, or 3.09 percent, to 46,389.16.
South Korea's Kospi Index also traded firmly higher, advancing 125.35 points, or 1.49 percent, to 8,520. Japan's Nikkei Index climbed 992.89 points, or 1.43 percent, to 70,461, while China's Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.20 percent to 4,082.13 during the session.
