MOSCOW, June 29 (HS/RIA Novosti) - The Royal Navy will acquire at least six hybrid warships capable of launching both aerial and underwater drones, Financial Times reported.

These will be the Navy's first hybrid warships, and are expected to be delivered in the early 2030s, the publication said.

The newspaper notes that these plans are expected to be announced next week.

Notably, the British government has prioritized hybrid ships and plans to cancel the construction of eight Type 83 destroyers and five Type 32 frigates, reflecting a shift toward greater reliance on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) rather than traditional military equipment.

Last week, The Times reported that the British government had abandoned plans to replace aging Royal Navy ships in favor of funding unmanned systems as part of its Defence Investment Plan.
