Islamabad, 29 June (H.S.): Pakistan's federal government has claimed that its security forces killed 25 militants in airstrikes carried out along the Afghan border during the night of June 28-29, following the recent attack on the Sindh Rangers Headquarters in Karachi. Information Minister Ataullah Tarar confirmed the operation, while the Pakistan Army's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said the success was achieved through an intelligence-based operation.

According to reports by Pakistani news channels Geo News and Dunya News, Tarar said in a post on X that security forces had eliminated a total of 29 militants during the latest operations. The action followed a series of recent terrorist attacks targeting civilians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, as well as the assault on the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Headquarters in Karachi.

He said security forces had earlier killed four militants in Bajaur district on June 28, including Khan Farosh alias Jabal, identified as a commander of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar.

Tarar stated that Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq against militant groups would continue. According to him, Pakistani security forces carried out precision strikes on militant camps and hideouts in border areas during the night of June 28 and 29. Three alleged militant bases located in Paktika and Kunar along the Afghan border were destroyed in the airstrikes, resulting in the deaths of 25 militants. He also claimed that a large cache of weapons and ammunition stored at the camps was destroyed.

The minister further alleged that terrorist activities in Pakistan have increased since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in 2021. He accused the Afghan Taliban of being responsible for unrest in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. He said Pakistan had launched Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq to eliminate militant groups operating in the region.

In a separate statement, the ISPR claimed that Khan Farosh, the commander killed during the operation near the Afghan border, was a foreign national.
