
VICTORIA (Seychelles),New Delhi, 29 June (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday interacted with members of the Indian community in Seychelles, praising their significant contribution to the island nation's development while highlighting their enduring cultural and emotional ties with India.
During the interaction, the Prime Minister acknowledged the role played by the Indian diaspora in Seychelles across various sectors, including business, healthcare, education, public service and trade. He said the community has made meaningful contributions to the country's progress while continuing to preserve its strong connection with India.
Sharing his thoughts after the meeting, PM Modi said, Had a wonderful interaction with members of the Indian community in Seychelles. They are making effective contributions to Seychelles' progress. At the same time, their connection with India is still very strong.
The Prime Minister appreciated the diaspora for serving as a bridge between the two countries and for promoting India's cultural traditions and values abroad. He noted that the close people-to-people ties between India and Seychelles remain one of the strongest pillars of the bilateral relationship.
The Indian-origin community in Seychelles traces its roots back several generations and has played an important role in the country's economic, social and cultural development. Members of the community actively participate in preserving Indian festivals, languages and traditions while contributing to the multicultural character of Seychelles.
