New Delhi, 26 June (H.S.): Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan and Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Friday urged citizens to reaffirm their collective resolve to build a Drug-Free India on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

In a post on X, the Vice President said, On the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, let us renew our collective resolve to build a 'Drug-Free India'. I appreciate the universities, educational institutions, and organisations that are actively advancing this campaign. Their efforts are making a meaningful contribution towards building a stronger, healthier, and drug-free India. Let us all work together to spread awareness, support those undergoing recovery from addiction, and inspire our youth to choose hope, health, and purpose over drugs.

Amit Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has mounted one of the strongest campaigns against the global challenge of drug abuse. He said the government has adopted a zero-tolerance approach against narco-cartels while ensuring that those affected by addiction receive proper care and compassionate treatment.

The Union Home Minister expressed hope that the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking would further strengthen the nation's commitment to protecting the younger generation from the menace of narcotic drugs.
