New Delhi, 26 June (H.S.): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, and several other leaders paid tribute to Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj on the occasion of his birth anniversary on Friday, remembering his enduring contribution to social justice, equality, and inclusive governance.

In a post on X, Om Birla said, My heartfelt tributes to the great Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj, a visionary social reformer and progressive ruler, on his birth anniversary. His life teaches us that the true progress of any nation is possible only when the last person in society moves forward with dignity, equal opportunities, and justice. His vision of building a harmonious, egalitarian, and just India remains as relevant and inspiring today as ever.

Amit Shah described Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj as a champion of social equality who set an example of people-centric governance by strengthening an inclusive administrative system. He said the Maharaj gave a new direction to social empowerment through the promotion of women's education, scholarship programmes, and the expansion of educational opportunities. Shah added that his ideals would continue to inspire the nation-building process.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj introduced several landmark reforms, including promoting primary education, eliminating caste-based discrimination, and eradicating untouchability. He described the Maharaj's contribution to social reform as invaluable.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj laid a strong foundation for an egalitarian and inclusive society by fighting against untouchability and social discrimination. He noted that the Maharaj promoted women's education, worked to eliminate child marriage, encouraged widow remarriage, and launched several historic initiatives for the welfare of the poor, deprived, and backward sections of society. Rajnath Singh said his ideals of social harmony and public welfare would continue to inspire efforts toward building an equitable, inclusive, and empowered society.

Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh also paid tribute, saying that Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj's visionary thinking and lifelong commitment to public welfare would continue to inspire generations.
