Lucknow, 25 June (HS): Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union
Agriculture Minister, met with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in
Lucknow to finalise the state's agricultural agenda. The discussions centered
on encouraging natural farming, adopting state-specific solutions, and
increasing farmer incomes through current seed types and integrated cropping.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan urged farmers to adopt natural farming
techniques, emphasizing non-chemical methods. To reduce production risks, the
government is providing subsidies for the first three years and formal
certification to participating farmers. The Union Minister demanded stringent
crop insurance responsibility, warning that banks and insurance companies who
delay reimbursement to farmers will face serious legal consequences.
He emphasized local factors and advised nations to tailor
agricultural strategy to their individual agro-climatic zones rather than
implementing a blanket national policy. During his visit to Lucknow, Chouhan
also delivered CM Yogi letters of clearance for 6.18 lakh new rural housing
units under the PM Awas Yojana-Gramin.
Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Union
Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan work closely together to increase
farmers' incomes and agricultural productivity throughout the state. Their most
recent collaborations have focused on scientific farming, climate change
mitigation, and the advancement of natural agricultural techniques. The leaders
went over statewide goals for the Kharif season. This involves providing an appropriate
supply of drought-resistant seeds, boosting Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) methods,
and extending micro-irrigation.
“Today, I have come to the sacred land of Uttar Pradesh and
have brought gifts for the farmer brothers and sisters of the state as well as
for poor families; whose approval letters have been handed over to the
Honorable Chief Minister Shri @myogiadityanath Ji,” remarked Union Agriculture
Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a post on X.
“Under the successful guidance of the Hon'ble Prime Minister
Shri @narendramodi ji and with your cooperation, Indian agriculture is today
establishing new benchmarks of self-reliance, innovation, and prosperity. In
the state, the approval of more than 6.18 lakh new houses under the Pradhan
Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) will infuse new energy into the resolve for the
welfare of the poor. At the same time, decisions such as the extension of the
government procurement period for chana, masoor, and mustard, and the
establishment of the Clean Plant Centre in Lucknow will play an important role
in increasing the income of our food provider farmers and their empowerment. It
is the result of the coordinated efforts of the central and state governments
that the resolve of 'Prosperous Farmer-Prosperous India' is being realized. Heartfelt
thanks to you for these gifts, Hon'ble Union Minister ji,” replied Yogi
Adityanath via X post.
