Mumbai, 25 June (HS): On Thursday, opposition addressed the

murder of a commuter on a Mumbai suburban train in the Maharashtra Assembly,

forcing Speaker Rahul Narwekar to ask the government to submit a statement on

the matter in the House on June 29. Nana Patole, a Congress MLA, described the

event as highly serious and expressed worry for the safety of ordinary

individuals traveling on Mumbai's suburban train network, which transports

about 80 lakh passengers daily. He urged a debate on train riders' safety and

security.

Patole stated that the victim's family had been subjected to enormous pain and

emphasized the importance of fast justice. It is sad that such a serious

tragedy occurred in Mumbai despite security precautions being in place. He

stated that the administration should examine the situation quickly and report

back to the House on any actions taken.

Speaker Narwekar responded to members' concerns, saying the

issue deserved the government's attention. Given the gravity of the situation

and the concerns voiced by members of the House, Narwekar believes the government

should publish a statement on Monday outlining the facts of the occurrence, the

status of the inquiry, and the steps being taken.
