Washington DC, 23 June (H.S.): US President Donald Trump on Monday warned that his administration would take necessary action if Iran failed to comply with the terms of the recently signed interim agreement between the two countries.

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Monday, Trump said, If Iran doesn't live up to their agreement, or if they're not behaving, I will do what I have to do, reiterating that Washington expects Tehran to fully honour its commitments under the deal.

The interim agreement was signed last week by President Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, more than three months after a sharp military escalation involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. The conflict began with US and Israeli strikes on Iranian targets, followed by retaliatory attacks by Iran against Israel and Gulf countries hosting US military bases.

The agreement is aimed at easing tensions and establishing limited cooperation while broader negotiations on Iran's nuclear programme and regional security continue.

Trump also stated that funds being released under the agreement are intended to be used exclusively for purchasing food from the United States. He said the arrangement would help meet Iran's food requirements while supporting American farmers through increased agricultural exports.

According to the US President, Iran's population of approximately 91 million people faces significant food supply challenges, and the financial relief provided under the agreement is expected to return to the United States through food purchases.

The recent conflict between Iran and Israel, along with Israeli military operations in Lebanon, has resulted in heavy casualties and widespread displacement across the region. The hostilities also disrupted global financial markets and contributed to a sharp rise in international oil prices, raising concerns over energy security and economic stability.
