
Bhubaneswar, 23 June (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep grief over the death of Odia workers in the ammonia gas leak incident that occurred in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. Extending his condolences to the bereaved families, the Chief Minister said the state stands firmly with those affected by the tragedy.
Earlier, the Chief Minister had announced an ex-gratia assistance of ₹4 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for the next of kin of the deceased workers. However, on Monday, he enhanced the compensation amount to ₹10 lakh per family.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure the immediate disbursement of financial assistance to the affected families. He also assured that the Odisha government would provide all possible support to the families during this difficult time.
The ammonia gas leak incident in Tiruvallur reportedly affected several workers, including a number from Odisha, resulting in fatalities. Following the tragedy, the state government has stepped in with enhanced financial assistance to support the families of the deceased workers.
