Twelve Indian nationals were killed in an industrial accident in Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City, the Indian Embassy in Doha confirmed on Monday. Expressing profound grief over the tragedy, the Embassy conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
According to the Indian Embassy, Qatari authorities have confirmed that the condition of the other injured victims remains stable and that they are currently undergoing medical treatment. The Embassy stated that it is in constant contact with the local authorities and is extending all possible assistance to the affected Indian nationals and their families.
The Embassy also said that it is coordinating with the concerned authorities to expedite the repatriation of the mortal remains of the deceased to India.
According to a statement issued by Qatar's Ministry of Interior, the accident occurred due to a technical malfunction during operations at a factory located in Ras Laffan Industrial City. Preliminary reports indicate that a total of 13 people from various countries lost their lives in the incident, while several others sustained injuries.
Officials said emergency response and security agencies rushed to the site immediately after the accident and launched rescue and relief operations. The injured were provided with prompt medical assistance, and the search operation has since been completed.
