Move aimed at boosting industrial development,
simplifying subsidy disbursement and strengthening digital governance
Chandigarh, 22 June (H.S.): In a series of key decisions
aimed at boosting industrial development and strengthening digital governance,
the Punjab Cabinet led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday approved
amendments to the industrial incentive guidelines and gave concurrence for the
implementation of the State Data Integration Platform (SDIP) in Punjab.
Amendment in Guidelines for Capital Subsidy and
Investment Incentives
In a significant decision, the Cabinet gave its approval
to amend the guidelines dated November 13, 2019, for the disbursement of
Capital Subsidy and Investment Incentives under the state’s industrial
policies. The amendments are aimed at simplifying and streamlining
the process of subsidy disbursement, improving administrative efficiency and
ensuring uniform implementation across eligible industrial units. Under the revised framework, capital subsidy will be
released to industrial units that become eligible after the omission of Clauses
1.1 and 1.2 of the guidelines, subject to verification of required documents
and fulfilment of prescribed conditions.
The move is expected to give a fresh push to industrial
development in Punjab by making the incentive disbursement process more
transparent, efficient and industry-friendly.
Cabinet Gives Concurrence for Implementation of
SDIP
The Cabinet also gave its concurrence for the
implementation of the State Data Integration Platform in Punjab. The platform
aims to integrate various databases of different departments of the state,
avoid duplication of records and streamline existing administrative processes.
A three-tier steering committee will be constituted
under the Chief Secretary to ensure smooth and hassle-free implementation of
the SDIP project.
The steering committee will be headed by the Chief
Secretary, Punjab, as Chairperson. The Administrative Secretary, Good
Governance, will serve as Member-Convener, while Administrative Secretaries of
other departments will be members of the committee. The government said the implementation of SDIP will help improve
coordination among departments, strengthen data-based governance and make
public service delivery more efficient.
