Global markets are providing mixed cues today. US equity markets closed higher in the previous session, although Dow Jones Futures were trading lower today. European markets ended the last session on a mixed note, while Asian markets are also witnessing mixed trading.
US markets witnessed strong buying in the previous session following reports of progress in peace talks between the United States and Iran. The S&P 500 Index gained 80.48 points, or 1.08 percent, to close at 7,500.58. Similarly, the Nasdaq surged 496.28 points, or 1.91 percent, to settle at 26,517.93 at the close of the previous session. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Futures were trading 110 points, or 0.21 percent, lower at 51,454.70.
European markets delivered mixed performances during the previous trading session. The FTSE Index declined 0.41 percent to close at 10,356.88. Likewise, the CAC 40 Index fell 0.42 percent to end the session at 8,432.80. In contrast, the DAX Index edged up 0.12 percent to close at 25,057.30.
Asian markets are also trading on a mixed note today. Of the nine major Asian markets, six indices were trading in positive territory, while three remained in the red. Indonesia's Jakarta Composite Index was the biggest loser, falling 109.30 points, or 1.77 percent, to 6,067.84. The Hang Seng Index declined 208.81 points, or 0.87 percent, to 23,716. Meanwhile, Singapore's Straits Times Index slipped 0.13 percent to 5,185.98.
On the other hand, Gift Nifty was trading 0.35 percent higher at 24,132. Thailand's SET Composite Index advanced 0.33 percent to 1,577.63. Taiwan's Weighted Index posted a sharp rally, soaring 1,357.34 points, or 2.92 percent, to 47,822.54.
Japan's Nikkei Index also recorded strong gains, climbing 1,532.94 points, or 2.15 percent, to 72,783. South Korea's Kospi Index was up 88.98 points, or 0.98 percent, at 9,141.40, while China's Shanghai Composite Index advanced 0.18 percent to trade at 4,098.01.
