West Indies batting great Kieron Pollard etched his name into the record books while representing MI New York in Major League Cricket (MLC), becoming the highest run-scorer in the history of T20 cricket. Pollard surpassed his former West Indies teammate and legendary batter Chris Gayle to achieve the milestone.

Pollard reached the landmark during MLC 2026 with a magnificent century against Washington Freedom. He remained unbeaten on 100 off 56 deliveries, striking 11 fours and four sixes. Following the innings, Pollard's aggregate in T20 cricket rose to 14,582 runs, overtaking Chris Gayle's tally of 14,562 runs. With this achievement, Pollard now holds the record for the most runs in T20 cricket history. The list is followed by Alex Hales (14,449), Jos Buttler (14,371), David Warner (14,284) and Virat Kohli (14,218).

Despite Pollard's historic century, MI New York failed to secure victory. Batting first, Washington Freedom posted a formidable total of 245 for five in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, MI New York managed 215 for six in 20 overs, falling short by 30 runs.

Pollard is not only the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket but also the most capped player in the format. He has played 736 T20 matches during his career, the highest by any cricketer. His record includes two centuries and 67 half-centuries. Pollard remains the only player in history to have featured in more than 700 T20 matches.

The former West Indies captain has retired from international cricket but continues to feature in franchise leagues around the world. Although he no longer plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pollard enjoyed a long and successful career with the Mumbai Indians before retiring from the tournament. He currently serves as the batting coach of the franchise.
