New Delhi, 21 June (H.S.): The Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN) organised a series of programmes across the country to mark the 12th International Day of Yoga. More than 15,000 people participated in mass yoga sessions held at the Council's headquarters, research centres, integrated healthcare centres and outpatient departments, promoting the message of adopting a healthy lifestyle through yoga.

The main programme was held at the CCRYN headquarters, where the Council's Director, Dr. Jyoti Keshwani, led a mass yoga session with yoga practitioners. Extending her greetings on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, she urged people to embrace the Yoga 365 campaign. She said yoga is not merely a one-day event but a lifelong healthy practice that empowers individuals physically, mentally and emotionally.

Dr. Keshwani said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of AYUSH has not only given yoga a distinct global identity but has also made significant efforts to establish it as an evidence-based system of health promotion. She noted that yoga is now recognised not only as India's cultural heritage but also as an effective means of promoting health and well-being across the world.

She further said that regular yoga practice can help prevent several lifestyle-related diseases. Yoga plays a vital role in keeping the body healthy, calming the mind and bringing balance to life. With this objective, the Council has been working to raise public awareness about yoga and disseminate its scientific benefits among people.

On the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, large-scale programmes were also organised at various research institutions under CCRYN. A large number of participants performed yoga at the Council's Central Research Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy (CRIYN) centres located in Rohini (New Delhi), Deverkhana, Jhajjar (Haryana) and Nagamangala (Karnataka). Students, research scholars, healthcare professionals and local residents actively participated in these events.

During the yoga sessions organised at different centres, participants were guided through various yoga postures, pranayama and meditation techniques. Trainers also explained the scientific significance of yoga, its health benefits and its role in reducing mental stress.

On the occasion, the AYUSH Wellness Centre at Rashtrapati Bhavan also organised special yoga programmes. Yoga sessions were conducted at three different locations within the Rashtrapati Bhavan complex, as well as for the Army Guard Battalion. Officials, staff members and other dignitaries associated with Rashtrapati Bhavan enthusiastically participated in the collective yoga sessions.
