Washington, 20 June (H.S.):

US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he plans to visit Turkey and China later this year, signalling continued diplomatic engagement with two strategically important nations amid a busy international agenda.

Speaking at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland during the unveiling of a Qatar-gifted aircraft that will join the Air Force One fleet, Trump said his administration is preparing for several overseas visits in the coming months.

We're doing a lot of trips. We'll be going to Turkey. We'll be going at some point during the year back to China, Trump told reporters on Friday.

The US President also revealed that Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to visit the United States in September before Trump travels to China for what he described as a major international conference.

President Xi is coming here in September, but we're going back for a big conference that's in China, Trump said, without providing further details about the event or the timing of his visit.

The announcement comes as Washington seeks to manage its complex relationships with both Beijing and Ankara. US-China ties remain shaped by economic competition, trade issues and security concerns, while cooperation continues on matters of global importance. Meanwhile, Turkey remains a key NATO ally despite differences with Washington over regional security and foreign policy.

Although the White House has not yet released an official itinerary or confirmed dates for either visit, Trump's remarks indicate that high-level diplomatic engagement with both countries will remain a priority in 2026.

The proposed visits are expected to provide opportunities for discussions on trade, regional security, geopolitical developments and broader bilateral cooperation as the United States continues to navigate an evolving global landscape.
