


Hyderabad, June 2 (HS): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Telangana State Formation Day and said the Congress government is giving equal importance to welfare and development while working to fulfil the aspirations of the people.
Participating in the official Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad, the Chief Minister described June 2 as an emotional occasion that reminds people of the sacrifices made for the formation of the state and the responsibilities that lie ahead.
Earlier in a message posted on social media, Revanth Reddy said, Every year... remembering yesterday's sacrifices, reviewing tomorrow's goals... an emotional occasion... June 2. Heartfelt wishes to all people on the Telangana State Formation Day celebrations.
The Chief Minister paid tributes to the martyrs of the Telangana movement and thanked former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi for their role in fulfilling the long-standing aspiration for a separate Telangana state.
Addressing the gathering, Revanth Reddy said Telangana society would not tolerate autocracy or domination and reaffirmed the government's commitment to democratic values and inclusive governance.
Referring to the ideals of noted poet and activist Kaloji Narayana Rao, he said the government has been working continuously for the welfare and development of the state since assuming office and has made significant progress in meeting public expectations over the past 30 months.
Highlighting employment initiatives, the Chief Minister said more than 67,000 government jobs had been filled transparently without legal disputes. He added that fresh recruitment notifications would soon be issued through the Telangana Public Service Commission for vacancies in engineering, forest, town planning, pollution control and education departments.
On education, Revanth Reddy said the government had introduced pre-primary classes in 1,362 government schools and would provide breakfast in all government educational institutions this year. Plans are also underway to extend the mid-day meal programme to junior college students.
Speaking on housing, he said the government aims to free poor families from the burden of rented accommodation. More than 1.25 lakh Indiramma houses have been constructed in the last 13 months, with an allocation of ₹22,000 crore for the programme. An additional 3.5 lakh houses have been sanctioned during the current financial year.
The Chief Minister also announced that new ration cards have been issued to eligible beneficiaries as part of the government's welfare initiatives.
Following the celebrations, Revanth Reddy presented distinguished service awards to police personnel in recognition of their outstanding contributions to public service.
