New Delhi, June 2 (H.S.): The domestic stock market showed signs of recovery from its early lows during Tuesday's trading session. Trading began on a weak note, but buyers soon stepped in after the opening bell, helping both the Sensex and the Nifty improve from their intraday lows. Although intermittent bouts of selling continued to exert pressure on the market, the benchmark indices steadily recovered despite remaining in negative territory.

By 10:00 a.m., the BSE Sensex was trading lower by 0.23 percent, while the NSE Nifty was down 0.28 percent.

Among the market heavyweights, shares of Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Coal India, Tata Consultancy Services and JSW Steel were trading higher, gaining between 1.67 percent and 3.99 percent by 10:00 a.m.

On the other hand, shares of Hindustan Unilever, Tata Consumer Products, Shriram Finance, Max Healthcare and ITC Limited were trading lower, registering declines ranging from 2.53 percent to 3.21 percent.

A total of 2,734 stocks were actively traded on the market during the morning session. Of these, 1,258 stocks were trading in the green with gains, while 1,476 stocks remained in the red.

Among the 30 constituent stocks of the Sensex, only six were trading higher on the back of buying support, while the remaining 24 stocks were under selling pressure. Similarly, among the 50 constituents of the Nifty, 11 stocks were trading in positive territory, while 39 stocks were trading lower.

The BSE Sensex opened 322.14 points lower at 73,945.20. Persistent selling pressure dragged the index down to an intraday low of 73,815.12 shortly after the opening. However, buyers gradually returned to the market, helping the index recover from its lows. Amid continued buying and selling activity, the Sensex was trading at 74,095.09 at 10:00 a.m., down 172.25 points.

Likewise, the NSE Nifty opened 153.45 points lower at 23,229.15. Soon after trading commenced, buying support emerged, leading to a gradual recovery in the index. Although minor spells of selling interrupted the upward movement from time to time, buying interest remained intact, enabling the Nifty to steadily recover from its lowest levels of the day. By 10:00 a.m., the index was trading at 23,316.05, down 66.55 points.

In the previous trading session on Monday, the Sensex had closed 508.40 points, or 0.68 percent, lower at 74,267.34. The Nifty had also ended the day down by 165.15 points, or 0.70 percent, at 23,382.60.
