Nagpur, 02 June

(HS): Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin, through a letter to

Tata Sons Chief Natarajan Chandrashekharan, has requested to withdraw the decision

to curtail flights between Nagpur and Mumbai. The decision has badly affected

the industrial development of the Vidarbha region.

The Association

for Industrial Develoment, Nagpur has informed Gadkari about the problems they

are facing, following which he immediately wrote to N Chandrashekharan. The

Vidarbha region is an important centre for the trade, industry, investment and

administration. The services are affected due to reduction in connectivity

between Nagpur and Mumbai.

Gadkari also

wrote about the historical development of introducing Night Air Mail Services

by Tata almost 100 years ago. Nagpur was its centre. Nagpur is being developed

as an important air transport centre.

At least one air

service in the morning and one in evening between Nagpur and Mumbai should be

continued, Gadkari has mentioned in his letter.
