New Delhi, 19 June (H.S.): Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tarunjit Singh Sandhu on Friday inaugurated the National Capital Territory's first all-women police station in the Sabzi Mandi area of North Delhi. The initiative aims to strengthen women's safety and improve the mechanism for addressing crimes against women. He said that a safe and empowered woman forms the foundation of a progressive society.

Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, senior police officials, and SHO of the all-women police station, Laxmi Singh, were also present on the occasion.

In a post on social media platform X, the Lieutenant Governor said that inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision that Nari Shakti is the cornerstone of nation-building, this significant institution will provide women with a supportive and secure environment where they can register complaints, seek justice, and receive assistance without fear.

He said he also reviewed Delhi Police's key women-centric safety initiatives, including the 'Pink Booth' and 'Sashakti' campaigns. He directed the police force to establish more such centres across the Capital to set a new benchmark in women-friendly policing and prompt enforcement of the law.

The Lieutenant Governor said that a safe and empowered woman is the foundation of a progressive society. Together, we will continue working towards building a safe, inclusive, empowered, and developed Delhi. If we witness any crime or injustice against our mothers, sisters, or family members, we must raise our voice or immediately inform the police. This police station will serve as a direct and dedicated mechanism to deal with crimes against women effectively, he said.
