MOSCOW, June 19 (HS/RIA Novosti) - At the summit in Brussels, the EU leaders called for increasing Europe's defense readiness by 2030.

In the face of serious security threats and challenges and with... war... against Ukraine remaining an existential challenge for the European Union, Europe’s defence readiness must be decisively ramped up by 2030, according to European Council conclusions on Ukraine and on European defense and security.

The leaders called for efforts to be stepped up to reduce strategic dependencies and address critical capability gaps.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov earlier said in an article entitled Ukraine, Europe and Global Security that Europe wants to stall for time by any means necessary to achieve combat readiness for a conflict with Russia by 2030.
