
Mumbai, 18 June (HS): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra
Fadnavis chaired a meeting on the water supply issue in Ichalkaranji city, at
Varsha Bungalow, in Mumbai today.” The people of Ichalkaranji deserve a lasting
solution, and the Maharashtra government is committed to ensuring long-term
water security for the region and a decision on this will be taken soon.
Reviewed the growing water requirements of the city and neighbouring villages,
along with the potential of the Krishna River to support a sustainable future,”
said Fadnavis.
“While the Krishna River serves three states, our priority
is to secure adequate water for the region without compromising the interests
of others. Directed officials to examine all possible options to enhance
storage capacity and strengthen water infrastructure for the future. Our focus
is on delivering a long-term solution that will support Ichalkaranji’s growth
for decades to come. Once the technical, administrative and financial
assessments are complete, we will move ahead with implementation without delay,”
he remarked.
“Assured that there would be no shortage of funds for this
important project. If required, we will consider long-term, interest-free
financial assistance. At the same time, local self-government bodies must
improve tax collection efficiency and ensure strict compliance with
construction regulations,” he added.
MP Dhairyasheel Mane, MLA Dr. Rahul Awade, Ichalkaranji
Mayor Uday Dhatunde, Deputy Mayor Adv. Anil Daliya and senior officials were
present.
