
Nagaon (Assam), 18 June (HS): In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, Nagaon Police carried out a successful anti-narcotics operation and arrested three alleged drug peddlers identified as Inamul Haque, Ilyas Ahmed and Nazmul Islam.
According to police sources on Thursday, the accused were transporting a large quantity of suspected contraband drugs from Silchar to Juria in Nagaon district. During the operation, police intercepted the vehicle and recovered the narcotics concealed inside 68 soap boxes.
Investigations revealed that the traffickers had allegedly used a four-wheeler for transportation while displaying a motorcycle registration number plate in an attempt to evade detection by law enforcement agencies.
The seized contraband has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and destination of the drug consignment, as well as the involvement of other members of the trafficking network.
Police officials stated that the operation forms part of the ongoing campaign against narcotics and drug trafficking in Assam. Further legal action has been initiated against the arrested individuals.---------
