Evian(France)/New Delhi, 18 June (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a session on Ensuring Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence Rollout during the G7 Summit, stating that Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as one of the most significant issues facing the global community due to its transformative impact across nearly every aspect of human life.

In his address, Prime Minister Modi said that the true test of AI does not lie in its technological capabilities, but in the extent to which it empowers ordinary citizens. He stressed that AI must remain human-centric and that its benefits should reach every section of society.

The Prime Minister said that India firmly believes cyberspace should serve as a global public good. He emphasized that broad and inclusive access to AI technologies is essential to enable all democratic nations to safeguard their critical information infrastructure and effectively counter the growing threat of cyberattacks.

Prime Minister Modi also put forward several key recommendations during the session. He said AI systems should be developed on the principle of secure by design, ensuring that safety is embedded into the technology from the very beginning.

He further proposed the development of common AI standards, testing frameworks, and regulatory sandboxes to ensure that innovation and regulation progress simultaneously in a balanced manner.

The Prime Minister also underscored the need to strengthen global cooperation in tackling challenges such as deepfakes, misinformation, and cyber fraud. He said it is essential to ensure that the benefits of AI are not confined to a handful of countries but are made accessible to all nations, enabling the technology to become a catalyst for inclusive development rather than a source of global inequality.

Concluding his address, Prime Minister Modi said that if AI is developed responsibly and through international cooperation, it has the potential to become a powerful force for positive transformation and a significant driver of progress for humanity.
