Srinagar, 18 June (H.S.): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said the National Conference (NC) parliamentarians won't support the NDA government at the Centre.
As far as NC MPs are concerned, we will never back the BJP-led NDA Government, Omar told reporters during his visit to review developmental works in Bandipora.
About the factions of Trinamool Congress and Shiv Sena backing the NDA Government at the Centre, the Chief Minister said that he couldn't comment on their reasons for no doing so but clarified that his party would never compromise its principles or sell its morals for power.
Neither I, nor you can answer this question. How can I say what DMK or Shiv Sena MPs do? It is upto them. It is upto their conscience. They will go as far as their conscience allows them to go, he said.
Omar said the National Conference (NC) would remain committed to its political ideology and would not alter its stand for the sake of power.
The party's ideology and commitment to the people cannot be traded regardless of changing political equations. No matter what is offered to us or who chooses to support the NDA, the National Conference will not sell its morals and values, he said.
Omar reiterated that the National Conference's political decisions would be guided by its ideology and commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir rather than political expediency.
We have our own principles and political legacy. We will continue to stand by them irrespective of changing political equations, he said, underscoring that the NC would not compromise its values for power or political advantage.
Omar earlier inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 18 development projects worth nearly Rs 100 crore and reviewed developmental works and the progress of government programmes in the district.
The projects span sectors including higher education, roads and bridges, drinking water supply, urban development and agriculture infrastructure.
Among the major projects are the construction of Government Degree College, Ajas, a footbridge over the Jhelum at Tundipora-Hakbara, a girls' hostel at Government Degree College Bandipora, a school building at Kaloosa, the upgradation of the Markundal-Hajin road, a water supply augmentation scheme and a multi-storey parking facility.
