Chandigarh, 18 June (H.S.): Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, today paid obeisance at Gurudwara Sri Nada Sahib,

Panchkula, on the occasion of the Shaheedi Gurpurab of the Fifth Sikh Guru,

'Shaheedan De Sartaj' Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji. He prayed for peace, prosperity

and the welfare of humanity.

On the occasion, the Governor said that the supreme

sacrifice of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji for the protection of truth, humanity,

religious freedom and communal harmony remains an unparalleled example that

will continue to inspire generations. He described Guru Sahib’s life as a

symbol of selfless service to the humanity, sacrifice, patience and spiritual

enlightenment.

Kataria said that Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji performed the

monumental task of compiling the Adi Granth, incorporating the divine hymns of

the first five Sikh Gurus along with the spiritual compositions of Bhagats,

Saints and Bhatts. This historic compilation conveyed a universal message of

unity, equality, Universal Brotherhood and spiritual wisdom for all humanity.

He further stated that the Tenth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind

Singh Ji, completed the sacred scripture by incorporating the bani of the Ninth

Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, thereby bestowing upon it its final and

eternal form as Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, which continues to guide humanity on

the path of righteousness, peace and serving the mankind selflessly.

The Governor called upon the people to imbibe the teachings

of Guru Sahib in their daily lives and work towards strengthening the values of

love, compassion, selfless service, social harmony and human brotherhood.
