
Evian (France), June 17 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held separate bilateral meetings with United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France, reviewing progress in bilateral relations and discussing regional and global developments.
During his meeting with the UAE President, Prime Minister Modi reviewed cooperation in areas including trade, investment, energy, technology and defence. The two leaders also exchanged views on the situation in West Asia and underscored the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and respect for international law in ensuring peace, security and stability in the region.
The two sides called for continued free, safe and unimpeded navigation and commerce through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global maritime route that has come under focus amid recent regional tensions.
In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi said the two leaders discussed India-UAE ties across sectors and explored ways to further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. He also thanked the UAE leadership for its support to the Indian community living in the Emirates.
Prime Minister Modi also held talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, during which the two leaders reviewed progress in India-UK relations and discussed steps to further deepen cooperation under the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.
The leaders exchanged views on enhancing collaboration in trade, investment, defence, technology, innovation, artificial intelligence, green energy and skill development. They also reviewed progress under the India-UK Vision 2035 roadmap and discussed regional and global issues of mutual interest.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the growing momentum in bilateral ties and looked forward to further strengthening cooperation across sectors.
Prime Minister Modi is participating in the G7 Summit as an invited partner country and is holding a series of bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the summit.
