New Delhi, 17 June (H.S.): Global markets presented mixed cues on Wednesday, with Wall Street ending the previous session on a mixed note and Asian equities witnessing divergent trading trends. While technology stocks weighed on the US markets, European indices closed higher in the previous session. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Futures were trading in positive territory, and Asian markets displayed a mixed performance.

US markets came under pressure during the previous trading session due to weakness in technology stocks, resulting in mixed closing figures for the major Wall Street indices. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 328.64 points, or 0.64 per cent, to close at 51,999.67.

In contrast, the S&P 500 Index declined 0.57 per cent to settle at 7,511.35, while the Nasdaq Composite fell 307.60 points, or 1.15 per cent, to close at 26,376.34.

Meanwhile, Dow Jones Futures were trading 0.11 per cent higher at 52,055.84 during early trade on Tuesday.

European markets maintained a positive momentum in the previous session. The FTSE Index advanced 0.61 per cent to close at 10,494.21. Similarly, the CAC Index climbed 0.75 per cent to end the session at 8,447.27, while the DAX Index edged up 0.07 per cent to settle at 24,910.41.

Asian markets traded on a mixed note on Tuesday. Of the nine major Asian indices, five were trading lower in negative territory, while four remained in positive territory.

Gift Nifty was trading 0.20 per cent higher at 24,074. The Kospi Index gained 0.69 per cent to reach 8,786.97.

Singapore's Straits Times Index emerged as the strongest performer in the region, rising 1.31 per cent to trade at 5,183.75. Japan's Nikkei Index also advanced 519.50 points, or 0.75 per cent, to 69,924.

On the downside, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index slipped 0.33 per cent to 24,414. Thailand's SET Composite Index declined 0.36 per cent to 1,582.39.

Taiwan's Weighted Index dropped 356.69 points, or 0.78 per cent, to 45,452.50 during the session. Indonesia's Jakarta Composite Index was down 0.18 per cent at 6,243.41, while China's Shanghai Composite Index also declined 0.18 per cent to trade at 4,084.54.
