
New Delhi, June 16 (HS): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday called upon the youth of the country to take a leading role in realising the vision of a developed India by 2047, saying that young people are the greatest strength in achieving the national goal.
Addressing the national conference of Viksit Bharat Yuva Sansad 2026 at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, Birla said the determination, innovative thinking and leadership capabilities of the youth would play a vital role in shaping India by 2047.
He said that in the years ahead, Indian youth would lead the world in science, technology, research and innovation. According to Birla, the global community today views India's youth as a symbol of hope, confidence and future opportunities.
Emphasising that the vision of Viksit Bharat is a collective aspiration, the Lok Sabha Speaker said it is not the dream of any one individual, institution or government, but a shared national resolve of 1.4 billion Indians.
Birla said that the responsibility for achieving this goal by 2047 rests largely on the shoulders of the present generation. He noted that the energy, innovation, courage and determination of the country's youth would be the most powerful force in transforming the vision of Viksit Bharat into reality.
Earlier, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya also addressed the participants and highlighted the transformative role of young people in nation-building.
Welcoming the delegates, Mandaviya said they had earned their place through a rigorous selection process. He added that presenting their ideas before the Lok Sabha Speaker was a matter of privilege and responsibility.
The event is being organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in New Delhi from June 15 to 17 with the objective of strengthening youth participation in democratic processes and providing practical exposure to governance, policy discussions and parliamentary functioning.
The programme has brought together selected youth representatives from 757 universities and institutions across the country, who are sharing their perspectives on the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
Youth Affairs Secretary Pallavi Jain Govil, Lok Sabha Secretary-General Utpal Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary (Youth Affairs) Nitesh Mishra and other senior officials were also present.
