Kathmandu, June 16 (HS): Proceedings of Nepal's House of Representatives were adjourned on Tuesday after concerns were raised over the absence of ministers responsible for ministries whose budget proposals were under discussion.
The House was deliberating on budget allocations for nine ministries when Nepali Congress MP Gopal Sharma objected, citing provisions of the House rules.
Referring to Rule 6(5) of the House of Representatives Regulations, Sharma said the presence of the concerned minister is mandatory when matters related to a ministry are being discussed in Parliament.
He told the House that only three ministers were present during the proceedings and urged the Chair to ensure compliance with parliamentary rules.
At the time, Physical Infrastructure Minister Sunil Lamsal, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Mahavir Pun, and Energy Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha were present in the House.
Sharma said the government should not continue to disregard Parliament and called for the House to be conducted in accordance with the established rules.
Following the objection, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal adjourned the proceedings.
